Houlton and Holden, Maine - Katherine "Kathy" Harrington Dee passed away on March 1, 2026, after a brief illness surrounded by family. She will be missed by many. Kathy was born on August 14, 1941, in Island Falls, ME, to parents, Fred Harrington and Eleanor Beattie Harrington.

Kathy attended high school at Patten Academy in Patten, ME, where she met the man who would become her husband for the next 66 years, Ronald Dee.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Ron, are daughters, Belinda Lawrence and her favorite son-in-law, Chuck, of Holden, ME, and Robin Dee of Ellsworth, ME; sons, Ron Dee of Red Bank, NJ, and Don Dee of Houlton, ME; five grandchildren and spouses, Claustin Lawrence, Brandon and Janine Lawrence, Dustin Lawrence and Daiane Machado, Emily Dee and Ryan Dee; brother, Jerry Harrington and Lois Harrington; sister-in-law, Gayle MacHenry; nephew, Bob and Kristin MacHenry; and niece, Sonya Harrington. In addition to her parents, Kathy was predeceased by her daughter, Betty Dee; daughter-in-law, Heather Corey Dee; and nephew, Christopher Harrington.

Kathy always had a smile wherever she went. Shortly after moving to Houlton she became the local Avon lady. She enjoyed that because it gave her a chance to meet and visit with her neighbors. She also worked part time doing bookkeeping for several cable companies. Every February Kathy looked forward to watching the high school basketball tournament on TV. She would frequently give coaching advice from her couch that could be heard several rooms away.

Kathy and Ron became snowbirds after he retired. She enjoyed her winters in Florida at Center Crest Retirement Park, where she would walk every morning and stop and talk to all of her neighbors. Kathy was always very social, she loved to talk and could tell you what was happening with everyone around her. Kathy and Ron spent their summers camping at the Red Barn Campground in Holden for many years, where she enjoyed visiting with all of the other seasonal campers there.

There will be a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 84 Christian Ridge Rd., Ellsworth, ME, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Houlton Humane Society, 263 Callaghan Rd., Houlton, ME 04730.
