Judith Pruszenski Obituary
Scottsdale, AZ, and Bangor, Maine - After a long life well-lived, we say goodbye to Judith Louise Pruszenski. Judy was born in Bangor in 1936 to Francis and Helen Anderson.
Married to Stanley J. Pruszenski until his untimely death in 1987, she lived in many places: England, Guam, Imperial Beach, CA, and Van Buren, ME, with many years in between back home in Bangor. In each of these diverse places, Judy adapted to the local offerings, such as ceramics, bowling and bridge, making lifelong friends in each locale. Widowed at age 50, she went on to create a new life with companion and partner, Jim McKenzie.
Mom has said one of the activities that brought her joy and purpose in the latter part of her life was helping at the soup kitchen through First Baptist Church and the Salvation Army under the leadership of Karen Bailey, Jim's daughter. She enjoyed helping prepare and serve the food and relished the friendship of the other volunteers. Feeding people was her mission.
Judy leaves behind children, Donna (Jerry) and Stan (Mary Jo); grandchildren, Julia, Kevin, Ann, and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Nichole, Alexandra, Samira and Griffin. She is survived by her brother and his wife, Philip and Rena Anderson, and their family. Our lives are a testament to her strength and character.
Judy passed away peacefully with her children by her side on July 5, 2026, in Scottsdale, AZ, where she had relocated to be closer to family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, followed by burial at Pine Grove Cemetery. Those wishing to remember Judy in a special way, may contribute in her memory to the World Central Kitchen, P.O. Box 96538, Washington, D.C. 20090, or your own favorite local charity.
