Harrington, Maine - Judith M. Classen, 77, passed away at home on February 27, 2026, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on March 25, 1948, in Augusta, the daughter of Paul and Audrey (Turner) Fickett.
Judy is survived by Peter Classen, her husband of 58 years; daughters, Heidi Classen Roesselet and Lori (Jim) Hill; grandchildren, Caleb and Aaron (Mikayla); sisters, Wendy (Ernie) Pettengill and Patricia Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.
Judy spent her youth in Readfield, Maine. She later attended the University of Maine, where she met her husband, Peter. Judy was a teacher for 25 years in the Guilford school system, teaching fourth, and later, second grade.
After retirement, Judy and Peter moved to her family home in Harrington, where they worked together for many years, renovating and living in their dream home. For 25 years, Judy raised gorgeous plants and vegetables for her huge gardens. Her large vegetable garden often supplied a surplus of produce, which she happily shared with neighbors and friends. She also fed and watched the birds and enjoyed the companionship of neighbors and friends.
Judy joined the Harrington Rec Committee, the planning board, and later volunteered at the Gallison Memorial Library. She became the president of the Friends of the Library in 2025, and made many wonderful friends who were a daily part of her life. She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on March 14 at 2 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Columbia, Maine. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where online condolences may be shared: bragdonkelley.com.
