Houlton - Josephine Marie (Miller) Ward, 85, passed away Friday May 31, 2019, at a Houlton long term care facility. She was born June 9, 1933, in Monticello, the daughter of Henry and Edna ( Grant) Miller Sr.
Josephine graduated from Houlton High School in 1951 and on January 24, 1955 she married Lawrence Ward. Over the years she was employed by Pratt & Whitney, Smith and Wesson, Houlton High School as a cook, and finally at Shop N Save. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, sewing, as well as taking trips to New Hampshire, Connecticut, Florida, Tennessee, and Alberta Canada.
She is survived by her three children: a daughter Brenda Stewart and her husband Mark of Bow, NH, and their children, Joshua and his wife Jordan, Zac and his wife Sasha, Nathaniel Stewart; a son Randy Ward and his wife Sally of Hodgdon and their children, Joleen Wallace, Josh Ledger and his wife Amanda, Kylie Cleaves and her husband James; a son Steve Ward and his wife Jodie of Houlton, and their children: Ben, Brandon and Elizabeth Ward; as well as eight great grandchildren. She also leaves behind three siblings; Dale Miller, Joan Faulkner and Sharon Nason all of Connecticut; a special sister-in-law Shirley Ward of Houlton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Ward; a brother Henry Miller Jr.; a sister Sylvia Daigle; three brothers-in-law, John "Jack" Faulkner, Richard "Dick" Nason, James Ward; and a great grandson Aidan Stewart
Friends may call 1 PM Sunday June 9, 2019 at Dunn Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held at 2 PM with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Interment for Lawrence and Josephine will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Houlton. Those who wish to remember Josephine in a special way may make gifts in her memory payable to a charity of one's choice in c/o Dunn Funeral Home 11 Park St. Houlton, ME 04730.
