Millinocket, Maine - Joseph S. Gagliardi Jr., 89, passed away on October 29, 2025, at Millinocket Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. Joe was born on June 19, 1936, in Millinocket, the son of Joseph S. Gagliardi Sr. and Antoinette (Civiello) Gagliardi.

Joe grew up in Millinocket, graduating from Stearns High School in 1954, following four years as class president. Upon completing high school he joined the army to serve his country. After his return from overseas in 1959, he transferred to the Army Reserve and returned home working more than 40 years in the Millinocket Paper Mill, retiring in 2001. In 1978 Joe met his future wife, Delores (Farrell) at an Elks convention. Delores and Joe were married in 1981, and shared many fond memories together. From the early years of having a camp on Smith Pond and spending time there with family, to sharing the love of gardening together, Joe and Delores were inseparable. Joe enjoyed spending time with family and watching any sporting event but his favorite teams were the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He celebrated every July 4th having a BBQ with family and friends.

Joe is survived by his wife, Delores; stepchildren, Byron MacKenzie (Andrea), Todd MacKenzie (Bridget), and Pamela Dow; sisters, Mary Ann Underkoffler and Shirley Oliver (David); sister-in-law, Donna Dickinson; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Josie Bresnahan and Stella Thibodeau; stepdaughter, Shelley Ellis; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, ME at 11 a.m. on November 6, 2025. Immediately following services, inurnment will take place at Millinocket Cemetery.
