Dover, Maine - John E. Murphy, 94, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022. He was born July 16, 1928, in Bangor, ME, and later moved to Presque Isle, ME.

After graduating high school, John enlisted in the Army in 1946. In 1949, he married Doris Evans and had two children, Dara and John. Upon moving back to Bangor in 1960, he began working at Dow Air Force Commissary. When Dow AFB closed, he transferred to Pease AFB and moved to Eliot, ME. Once retired, he continued to work part time at Sears, Roebuck & Co for several more years.

John was predeceased by his two sisters, Joanne and Patricia; as well as his wife, Doris, who passed in 2015. John is survived by his brother, Dennis Murphy; sister, Noreen Hammond; daughter, Dara Redden; son, John and Susan Murphy; grandson, Brian Redden; and many nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held at J.S. Pelkey & Son Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, ME, on Monday, January 2, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A funeral service will start promptly at 12 p.m. Care for the Redden family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey & Son Funeral Home.
