Glenburn, Maine - Jessie (Clark) Bouchard Stanhope, 90, passed away quietly after a short illness and stay at Orono Commons nursing home on November 23, 2025. Jessie was born January 27, 1935, in England, to the late John and Jessie Clark.
After a tumultuous childhood, Jessie made her way to the United States and eventually settled in Maine. Jessie worked several jobs from the woolen mill in Old Town to the lunch counter at Woolworths, where she met and fell in love with Harold "Wow" Bouchard. They were married in 1961, and Jessie soon after became a U.S. Citizen in 1965. After twenty years of marriage Harold passed away and Jessie found herself alone. Jessie continued to work and did some traveling until she met Richard "Dick" Stanhope. After a brief courtship Jessie moved to Glenburn with Richard and they were married in 1998. The two honeymooned in Alaska by way of RV, stopping at various state parks along the way. Jessie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bangor, where she volunteered with the Alzheimer's group, memory joggers, once a week until her own age got the best of her. Jessie loved to read so much so that her home was filled almost wall to wall with books of all kinds. Jessie enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals with her stepdaughter and spent many weekends in the summer camping with her family, sitting by a fire and listening to the music.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Jacqueline Tardif and her husband, André, of Glenburn; and several nieces and nephews still living in England. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Bouchard and Richard Stanhope; her brother, John Clark; and sister, Joan Southey.
She will be greatly missed.
