Macwahoc Plt., Maine - Jeremiah O'Roak died on Sunday, November 24, 1889, at his home on Kingman Road in Macwahoc, surrounded by his family. He was born December 28, 1821, in Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland, to William O'Roak and Ellen Margaret Fitzgerald.
He was predeceased by his children, Michael and Lydia; his mother, Ellen; half brother, Maurice Scanlon; and presumably his brother, Michael O'Roak. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 38 years, Margaret; daughters, Mary McMullen of Kingman, Nancy Buck of Monticello, Martha and Elizabeth O'Roak of Macwahoc; sons, Jeremiah "Jere" of Kingman, Neil of Sherman, John of Lincoln, Thomas of Kingman, George of Macwahoc, and Charles of Macwahoc; stepfather, Owen Scanlon of Sherman Mills; half siblings, John of Benedicta, Ellen and Margaret of Sherman Mills, James of Augusta; nieces; nephews; in-laws; and grandchildren.
His funeral was held at the old homestead. His rites and burial were performed by the priest of the Catholic mission in Macwahoc, of which Jeremiah and his family have long been members. He was buried in Macwahoc Cemetery on Houlton Road.
