Presque Isle, Maine - After several years of health struggles and a recent brief illness, my dad, Jeffrey E. Giggie, went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2026, at the Aroostook House of Comfort. He was born September 3, 1951, in Presque Isle, to Colie E. and Marjorie (Sutherland) Giggie.

He attended Presque Isle schools, graduating from Presque Isle High School in 1970, where he was a proud member of the FFA. In 1972, he married my mom, Karen (King, Hilt); they divorced in 1987. He had two children: myself, Melissa Sue and my brother, Jason Jeffrey. Dad worked for almost 30 years at the State of Maine Department of Transportation, but his true love was farming. He farmed potatoes, soybeans, wheat, and oats. In later years, he also enjoyed raising beef cows and chickens. He loved his family, and was especially proud of his grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann, Amelia Grace and William Jeffrey. Dad was a man who enjoyed a simple life; he loved classic rock (especially Aerosmith and Guns N' Roses), sci-fi and action shows/movies (favorites included Star Trek and Top Gun), a Houlton Farms Brownie A La Mode, Richie's pizza, and meaningful conversations about the Bible.

His faith in Jesus Christ grew immensely the last 20 years of his life, and he was always eager to ask questions and deepen his faith. He was often a man of few words, but when he spoke - it mattered. He was strong, kind, always willing to lend a helping hand to someone who needed it, and had a wonderful sense of humor. I will miss him beyond what words can convey.

Dad was predeceased by his parents, Colie (1996) and Marjorie (2009); a sister, Lois (1990); and his son, my brother, Jason (2023). He leaves behind: myself, his daughter, Melissa and my husband, Brent Dyer; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Amelia, and William Dyer, all of Presque Isle; a daughter-in-law, Shanon Shrout-Giggie of Fort Fairfield; two brothers, Elbridge Giggie of Presque Isle and Gregory Giggie of Lubec; his beloved canine companion, Dylan; close friends, Deborah Chase, Cara Miller and Trampus Davis, and Ray and Gwen Miller; and many other family members, neighbors, and friends.

A very special thank you to the Presque Isle Fire Department; NL-ARG ICU nurses and ER staff, Dr. Boma, and Dr. Emery; Dr. McFadgen and Jessica Bates at North Street Healthcare; and the staff at the Aroostook House of Comfort. You all have gone above and beyond for my dad, and I will always be grateful for your kindness and compassion.

A private gathering will be held to scatter his ashes over the farm. Simple and meaningful, just like he would have wanted. We invite you to an open house, a time of sharing and remembrance of my dad at our home (61 Dyer Street, Presque Isle) Sunday, June 28, from 12 to 4 pm.
