Waterville - WATERVILLE - Jean S. Holt, 92, formerly of Oakland, died Tuesday May 27, 2014 at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville. She was born in Wytopitlock, March 9, 1922, the daughter of George and Blanche (Rollins) Sanders.

A long time resident of Oakland, Jean volunteered many hours at the Oakland Public Library and served as Head Librarian for several years. She had a passion for playing all kinds of card games, bridge being her favorite. She enjoyed going out to lunch and could be seen several times a week at Applebees. Jean always dressed in style and spent much time shopping for the right attire. During her quiet times, Jean enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading, and watching old black and white movies. She was a great cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her friends and family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald E. Holt, and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are her children, Dawn Trice and husband, Ken of Norridgewock, Deborah Beisheim and husband, John of Locust Grove Virginia and Gerald Holt Jr and wife, Bridget of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 7 grandsons, John, Brian, Chris, Jamie, Tom, Adam, and Jason, and 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Jean also leaves behind special friends, Andie and Ray Pellerin of Waterville and her special sister-in-law, Rose Sanders of Mexico, with whom she shared many Red Sox memories.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 24 at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive in Augusta.
