Jean Inez Burch Obituary
Stetson, Maine - Jean Inez Burch passed away on November 26, 2025.
Jean grew up in Pittsfield where she learned to dance, cook, and play piano. She attended MCI, where she met her husband of 50 years, Seymour "Vince" Burch. She studied fashion design at the Maine College of Art and Design, where she honed her painting and drawing skills, turning them into a lifelong passion. She was crowned the Maine Blueberry Queen in 1963, an experience that allowed her to travel all across the state. After marrying Vince they moved to the island of Oahu, Hawaii, where they spent many wonderful years enjoying all the island had to offer and making lifelong friends. During this time they purchased a camp on Indian Pond in St. Albans, a beloved space that allowed family and friends to gather and create many beautiful memories. These remained Jean's favorite places and she often reminisced about them both. After having two children, they moved back to Maine, settling in East Machias where she became deeply involved in community theater with the Rubicon Playhouse in Machias. She starred in many shows, helped paint the sets, make props, and even helped produce numerous shows for the children's theater. Retirement took her back to central Maine, in Stetson, where she enjoyed kayaking, painting, cooking, and pottery. She was a sweet woman of many talents who liked just about everyone she met. Everywhere she looked she could find something beautiful, she was always thinking about what she could paint next.
She was predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and Avis Fuller; and husband, Vince. She is survived by her two children, Tim and Heather.
An informal celebration of life will be held at the Wild Duck Restaurant in Topsham on June 6 at noon. In honor of Jean's bright spirit and love of color, guests are encouraged to wear cheerful colors as she never cared for black.
