Brewer, Maine - James R. Light "Jim" from Brewer and Searsport died on October 11, 2025, at the age of 87.
He was married to Edith Light for more than 67 years; has two children, James and his partner, Matthew Rolnick, of Portland and Tammy from Milford; one granddaughter, Eva Light and her husband, Travis Messineo, of Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Joan Light of Waldo; and many nieces and nephews. He thought of Denice Tucker and Cherrie Clark as his "adopted daughters." He was predeceased by his parents, Franklin and Helen Light; and his two brothers, Franklin and wife, Marlene, and Tim Light.
Jim and Edie operated Lights Motel and Restaurant in Searsport for more than 40 years. Jim was a very social man and made friends wherever he went. He had fond memories of the many people who worked with him through the years. Most recently he made many friends at the Ellen Leach Memorial Home in Brewer and could be heard belting out "Sweet Caroline" in the hallways.
Special thanks for the extraordinary medical care received by St. Joseph Hospital, Bristol Hospice Care and his special friends at Davita Kidney Care. We are forever grateful for your loving care.
