Presque Isle, Maine - Irma Marie Higgins Allen, 97, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at Ross Manor in Bangor, Maine. She was born on July 15, 1927, in Presque Isle, ME, the daughter of Clayton "John" and Marion (Ricker) Higgins.

Irma was a mother of eight and fiercely loyal to her family. A wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Irma lived a life grounded in faith. Irma was a proud mother of eight children. Those surviving are Deborah (Ronald) Beaulieu of Chapman, ME, Bonnie (Sam) Martin of Levant, ME, Jeffrey Walton of Presque Isle, ME, whose wife, Linda, preceded him in death in 2024, Jane Walton of Lincoln, ME, Jennifer Gagnon whose husband, Ronnie, is also deceased, and Tracy Kinney of Hermon, ME; and brother-in-law, Robert Lackey. Irma was lovingly known as "gram" to her 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and many others. She was predeceased by two beloved sons, Jonathan and Darren Walton; two grandchildren, Michelle Carman and Michael Walton-Rabbitt; husband, Merle Walton; and her second husband, Clayton Allen. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Phil Higgins and his wife, Lois; and her sisters, Evelyn Clair and her husband, George, and Sharon Lackey. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

A woman of faith, Irma was an active member of the Presque Isle Wesleyan Church for many years, where she found joy in community and service. Irma had a lifelong love for birds and found great joy and peace in watching them from her window - especially chickadees and cardinals that visited faithfully.

For the past four years, Ross Manor was Irma's home. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the incredibly caring and compassionate staff who provided comfort and companionship to her in her final years.

A graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery, Houlton Road, Presque Isle, on Saturday June 14, 2025, at 1 p.m. with reception to follow at Bowers Funeral Home, 238 Main Street, Presque Isle, ME.
