Rockport And Boca Raton, Florida - ROCKPORT AND BOCA RATON, FLORIDA - Irene (Kaprow) Shiro, 94, passed away peacefully in Rockport on the evening of August 4, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born May 25, 1921, in Bangor, the daughter of the late Edward Phillip Kaprow and Molly Rich Kaprow.

Irene spent her life devoted to her family. Memories of winters in Florida, summers in Maine, M&M cookies and her love will live forever.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Shiro; son, Alan Bruce Shiro; brother, Gerald Kaprow; sister, Rhoda Kaprow Matson; son-in-law, Robert Lipman.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Shiro) Lipman, of Boca Raton, Florida; her grandchildren, Meredith Lipman Ladov (Jonathan Ladov), Kathryn Lipman Hausman (Kenneth Hausman), Allyson Lipman Jaffe (Andrew Jaffe), Andrew Benjamin Lipman (Andrew Rubin); six great-grandchildren, Robert Ladov, Abby Ladov, Molly Kanofsky, Jesse Kanofsky, Rebekah Jaffe and Oliver Jaffe. They were so lucky to have many wonderful years and will miss their Gigi.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2015, at the Beth Israel Cemetery, Bangor with Rabbi Darah Lerner, officiating. Beth Israel Cemetery entrance is on Severance Rd., off Mt. Hope Ave. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the graveside service.
