Houlton - Inez J. Sanborn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 in Houlton, Maine. She was born on October 15, 1930 to Erma (Stockford) and William Folsom.
She married John Wysocki and together they had a daughter, Karen. Sadly, Inez was widowed at a young age. She went on to re-marry Charles Sanborn and they resided in Connecticut until retiring together in Puerto Rico. Following his death, she returned to her childhood home, Aroostook County, where she spent her final years.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and dedicated friend with a quick wit and an incredible sense of humor. Inez loved to walk, especially outside, covering many miles during her 88 year long journey here on earth. She enjoyed recounting the many tales of being in the woods and strolling along the Meduxnekeag River with her best friend and brother, Alden Folsom, where they hunted and fished.
Some memories that Karen cherishes are the times spent with her Mom on trail rides as well being outside working in the garden or tending the pool. Reading and completing crossword and jigsaw puzzles were also some of Inez's favorite pastimes. She was a skillful crafter with a generous heart who crocheted, painted and did cross-stitch, creating various items to give to her family and friends.
Inez has left an impact on the heart and life of her niece, Bonnie Folsom. Bonnie and her children will treasure the laughter and fun they shared with Inez. They will fondly recall the stories she loved to tell about Alden, their father/grandfather.
Inez is survived by her daughter Karen Makley of Gainesville, Florida; she is also survived by her sister, Pat Grant; and brother, Leston Folsom of Vero Beach, Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, John Wysocki; second husband Charles Sanborn; sister, Sanya Shackford; and brothers Alden, Randolph, Elton, Spencer and Austin Folsom.
At Inez's request, there will be no services. Those who wish to honor her life can do so by going for a walk, enjoying time outside in nature or by reading a good book. She would encourage you to slow down and appreciate the small things in life, for they are indeed the big things.
