Hampden, Maine - Inez Buxton, 88, of Hampden, Maine, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026. She was born on July 3, 1937, and lived a full and loving life defined by kindness, generosity, and devotion to family and friends.

Inez is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Kenneth O'Brien. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Buxton; two daughters, Joyce Buxton Wright and Jessica Buxton; and family friends, Wayne and Jesse Lenfest. Inez will be missed by grandchildren and their families, Richard Gilbert, Darren Gilbert, Bobby Lenfest, Jennifer Lenfest; great-grandson, Zakery Boutilier (a special young man she helped raise and loved dearly); and her niece, Melissa and Carl Carlstad. She also leaves behind her dear neighbors and friends, Carol Smith and Charles Smith.

Inez had a gift for caring for others, especially children and dogs, and she and her husband played important roles in the lives of many young people, and animals. Known affectionately as Mom, Aunt, Nana, and friend, she was happiest when surrounded by loved ones and never missed a chance to hold a baby. She will be remembered for her long phone conversations with family and friends. She loved going camping in Sullivan, Maine. She took many trips around Bangor on the city bus to shop or visit with her friend, Pat Vincent, and her enjoyment of traveling the United States with her husband by Greyhound bus and Amtrak. Inez was also an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers that she proudly displayed in her living room for all to see and enjoy.

A graveside committal and time to remember Inez will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2026, at Locust Grove Cemetery, Main Road South, Hampden.
