Stockton Springs - STOCKTON SPRINGS - Horace R. Seekins, Sr., 84, of Stockton Springs, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 at his home. Born in Stockton Springs on Dec. 27, 1929, he was the son of Harold and Olivia "Robbins" Seekins.

Horace married Dorothy Miller in Belfast on Oct 25, 1948. He worked for the Town of Stockton Springs as the Road Commissioner for many years. He was an avid fan of stock car racing and enjoyed going to Speedway 95 to watch his son race. He enjoyed working around his home, tending to his garden and attending local fairs to watch horse track racing.

He was predeceased by his parents, one sister, Annie Woods, and one brother, Russell Seekins. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy of Stockton Springs, 2 sons, Horace R. Seekins Jr. and his wife, Linda of Stockton Springs, and Duane Seekins and his wife, Cecile of Stockton Springs, 3 grandchildren, Horace Seekins III of Bangor, Jeffrey Seekins and his wife, Amanda of Kenduskeag, and Lindsey Young and her husband, Justin of Winterport, 3 great-grandchildren, Logianne Curtis of Ft. Kent, Scott Seekins of Kenduskeag, and Ryan Young of Winterport, 3 sisters-in-law, Pearl Seekins of Searsport, Evelyn Brown of Bucksport, and Katherine Muise of NH, many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Vern Thompson of Stockton Springs and Shawn Hamel of Bangor.

Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25th, at Young Funeral Home, 31 W. Main St., Searsport, ME. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27th, at Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Stockton Springs. www.mitchelltweedie-young.com
