Herman J. Thibeault

Bucksport - Herman J. Thibeault, 82, transitioned peacefully from his earthly journey to his eternal resting place, on March 2, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fort Kent on July 21, 1936 to Patrick & Edwina (Cyr) Thibeault. Herman graduated from Fort Kent Community High School in 1955. After a brief employment with Aroostook Federation of Farmers, he launched into his life long passion of insurance sales; for more than 3 decades with Combined Insurance, then on to Colonial Insurance to close out that career in 1984. In the early years of his retirement, Herman saw a need for a SAD 27 bus driver. He served the students with much enthusiasm and he quickly became their #1 fan.
Herman married the love of his life, Carlene (Picard) in 1957. They shared many interests during their 62 year marriage including raising 5 children, skiing, snow-mobiling, square dancing, motor cycling and spending time at camp. Herman and Carlene did a Marriage Encounter, both served as Eucharistic ministers and were team leaders for the Cursillo movement. Herman served in the Lions Club, Jr Chamber of Commerce, a Member Advisor for the Fort Kent Credit Union and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus in the #0352 Council.
Herman's loving legacy will be seen for generations to come through his wife Carlene and his 5 children; Gregory and wife Susan, Donna and husband James Roy, Elaine and husband Joel Pelletier, Denise and husband Robert Brookings, Bruce and wife Susie. 13 grandchildren that were the fulfillment of his love of family: Justin and wife Monica, Heather, Phillip and wife Amanda, Daniel, Travis and wife Bethany, Sarah and husband Ryan, Robert, Ashley, Emily, Nicholas, Erica, Madeline, Andrea. 4 Great-Grandchildren, Hannah, Brian, Matthew and Collette.
Herman is also survived by his brothers, Clarence and wife Marlene, Ronald and wife Rolande, Gerald and wife Joan as well as sister Muriel and sister Vivian and husband Peter along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Herman was pre-deceased by two brothers, Edgar & Edward and sister Doris Nadeau. Friends and family may call March 8, 2019 from 10-10:45 AM at the Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, and 11:00AM Mass at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. A luncheon reception for all at the Knights of Columbus Hall will follow the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the hospice agency that was a blessing to the Thibeault family. Amedisys Foundation 3854 American Way Suite A, Baton Rouge LA 70816 (225-292-2031) https://www.amedisys.com/about/foundation.

Carlene and family, thank you for always allowing Herman to include me in your family. Being his little sister, he always treated me and my family as very special. I totally accepted his love. I will miss him dearly but I am glad that he is now at peace. I am sure we will continue to feel his love.
