Hattie Eva Webb
Hattie was born May 28, 1920, in Belfast, the only child of Wyman and Rena (Eaton) Haskell. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Oceanville, where she attended grade school and graduated from Stonington High School, in 1938. In 1940, she married Carlyle J. Webb, the love of her life. They grew up in the same neighborhood in Oceanville and, in Hattie's words, "I had my eye on him for quite a while." Hattie lived a full and happy life, centered around her family and friends. She helped Carlyle with his various business interests, acting as bookkeeper and ordering movies for the Opera House. Her personal interests included oil painting, gardening, knitting, crocheting, Cooperative Extension Service, and bird watching. Hattie was a wonderful wife, mother, friend, and was respected by all. She had a friendly disposition and a kind word for everyone.
Hattie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Carlyle; son, Gary Webb; siblings-in-law, Alan and Myrna Webb, Raymond and Lurline Webb, and Russell Webb.
She is survived by her son, Glenn Webb, and his wife, Linda, of Orland; daughter-in-law, Elaine Webb, of Coventry, RI; three grandchildren, Sandra Brouillette, and her husband, Tom, of St. Simons Island, GA, Valerie Robinson, and her husband, Ted, of Wappingers Falls, NY; and Kimberly La Fountain, and her husband, Ken, of Coventry, RI; her special great-granddaughter, Ava LaFountain; sister-in-law, Marie Webb, of Clinton; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family much appreciates the wonderful care Hattie received at the Island Nursing Home, the place she called "home." The family also wishes to extend a special thank you to Jan, Jim, and Harry. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Hattie's memory may be sent to Island Nursing Home, 587 North Deer Isle Rd, Deer Isle, Maine 04627.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM, Monday, November 11, 2019, at the Ellsworth Chapel of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Homes. A committal service will immediately follow at Greenwood Oceanville Cemetery, Stonington.
