Holden, Maine - Grady James Stevenson, 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Holden, Maine, on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Grady was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired industrial salesman for W.L. Blake. He led an active life, enjoying activities such as biking, hiking, whitewater rafting, and golfing. A highlight of his life was attending the 1996 Olympic bicycle racing competition in Atlanta, GA.
Grady was born on December 21, 1940, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Buford Ozroe Stevenson and Helen Montgomery Stevenson. After his discharge from the Air Force, he settled in Maine and became a proud "Maineiac." He took great pride in his adopted home state and loved showcasing its beauty to visiting family and friends.
Grady is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Joyce Stevenson; son, Lonny James Stevenson (Jennifer); daughter, Lynne McIninch; stepsons, Jim Belcher (Cindy), Bill Belcher (Susan), Ken Belcher (Kristen), Bud Belcher (Gina), and Don Belcher; brother, Glenn Stevenson; sister, Sandra Pevahouse (Tom); 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Grady's life will be held on July 26, 2025, at Joyce and Grady's home at 46 Fields Pond Rd., Holden, from 2 to 4 p.m. Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gentiva Hospice, 238 State St., Brewer, ME 04412.
