Gordon Sherman Gilbert


Melbourne, FL - Gordon Sherman Gilbert, 94, went home to be with the Lord on July 8th, 2019.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Edna May , and his second wife, Florence Smith Gilbert. He spent his first 75 years living in Bar Harbor, and the rest of his years in Florida.
He helped build and then work at the Bluenose Ferry Terminal in Bar Harbor where he also retired in 198. He was a huge sports fan. He was a successful little league basketball coach, and was fortunate enough to coach his son, Robert. They shared many hours watching and participating in sports together. His hobbies included playing cards, music, square dancing and riding his moped.
He is survived by his son, Robert Gilbert; 3 grandchildren, Rob Gilbert, Jennifer Gallagher and Jodi Gilbert; several great and great-great-grandchildren.
The graveside service and memorial will be announced at a later date.

To the Family of Gordon Gilbert,
I worked at the place he lived these last few years as weekend receptionist, Gordon will be missed, even when you knew he was just not himself, he could still make those around him smile, very sweet man. Happy to be back with his wife. and free of any and all discomfort. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
