Garfield Plantation and Ashland, Maine - Gloria F. Russell, 80, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Houlton Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Gloria was born on May 7, 1946, in Masardis, ME, the daughter of Perley and Flora (Libby) Eastman.

Gloria was married to Derek Russell Sr., and the two shared 39 years together before his passing in 2002. She worked for Converse Shoe Company for more than 15 years, Fiber Materials Inc, Pinkham Lumber Co. and the Porter Farm (Maine Seed Potato Board) where she retired at the age of 72. She received her GED and went on to graduate from Pierre's School of Cosmetology, where she received her cosmetology license. She was a woman who found her greatest joy outdoors and in the company of family and friends.

In her free time, Gloria loved hunting, fishing, listening to music and gardening, especially with her family by her side. She enjoyed the time spent at camp in Garfield, where she could canoe the Machias river while fishing, hunting and spending time with family and neighboring camp owners. She loved to read and watch old westerns. She also loved to ride and find a great place to eat. Gloria was well known among family and friends for her delicious cooking, particularly her delicious donut and bread recipes.

Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Perley and Flora (Libby) Eastman; her husband, Derek Russell Sr.; her brothers, Clyde Sr. and Perley Jr.; and her sisters, Lorine, Filline (Diddy) and Evelyn (Molly - cherished friend along with her husband, Gene); a special daughter-in-law, Betty; and special friend Jeff. She is survived by her children, Derek Russell Jr., Sherry (Larry) Carrier, and Kimberly (Donald-Eddie) Flewelling; grandchildren Jessi, Corey, Cody, Matthew, Michael, Chantal, Emily, Tyler, and Alexis; 13 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly; several loving nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Jim (Tater). Gloria also leaves behind sisters-in-law, Phyllis, Marlene, and Judy; and her brother-in-law, Phil.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Houlton Regional Hospital for the care given to their mom.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Ashland Municipal Cemetery, with Nathan Gardner officiating.
