Belding, Michigan - Glenda Jean Garland, age 88, of Belding, MI, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on June 9, 2026, after a life marked by faith, gentleness, and loving devotion to her family and church. Glenda was born on May 27, 1938, in Bangor, ME, the daughter of Carl and Ruby (O'Brien) Hatch.

She spent her early years there and laid the foundation for a life of service and grace. She graduated from Bangor High School with the class of 1956 and later earned a secretarial certificate from Husson College in Maine. Glenda married Charles "Chuck" Garland and honeymooned above his uncle's funeral home in Massachusetts! Together they enjoyed 67 years of marriage before his death in August 2025.

She is survived by her children, Debra Garland of Grand Rapids, Paul (Emily) Garland of Ludington, and Cathy (Jonathan) Schnicke of Belding. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Isaac (Kara) Schnicke, Lauren (Jackson) Heiden, Jeffrey (Justice) Garland, Julia Schnicke, Matthew Garland, and Aaron Schnicke. Each of them carries forward the memory of her love, her faith, and her steady example. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Chuck.

Glenda will be remembered as a devoted mother, nana, teacher, musician, and servant of Christ. Funeral services will be held in Belding, MI.
