Ginny Vose Obituary

Searsport And Groveland, Mass - SEARSPORT and GROVELAND, Mass. - Margaret Virginia "Ginny" (Smith) Vose died Friday, June 7, 2013, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. She was born March 5, 1922, in Haverhill, Mass., to Charles Edward and Margaret (Reid) Smith.

She grew up in Derry, N.H., graduating from Pinkerton Academy in 1939. She married Robert F. Vose, Dec. 26, 1947. They raised three children, Gail, Ferg and Beth, in Groveland, Mass. In the early 1980s, Ginny and Bob retired to Searsport, where they opened Robert F. Vose Gallery and Antiques. Ginny loved being on the road yet was equally comfortable hosting whomever her children brought for a visit. She made a waiting room exciting, put "adventure" into a trip to Reny's, touted her children and grandchildren as the best, and genuinely made everybody feel better about themselves. She was the type of person who would only consider the day successful if she had made a new friend and/or brightened someone's day. Every day was a success. She was one of a kind.

Ginny was predeceased by her husband, Bob; and sister, Betty Cozart. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Yarborough and husband, Troy, of Owens Cross Roads, Ala.; son, Ferg of La Conner, Wash.; daughter, Beth Bryan and husband, Andy, of Holden; and two sisters, Louise "Lulu" Schatzle of Orleans, Mass., and Marlene "Marly" Hogg of Plymouth, Mass. She also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren, Jesse and Kate Montini-Vose of Seattle, and Maggie and Anna Bryan of Holden.

Visiting hours with family will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Young Funeral Home, Searsport. Donations in her memory may be made to Golden Acres Boarding Home, Franklin; Airline Community School Fine Arts Fund, Aurora; or Shaw House, Bangor.
