Wallagrass - Gerard Belanger, 92, died unexpectedly as a result of an ATV accident on September 25, 2017. He was born in Saint-Hilaire, New Brunswick, Canada, on May 25, 1925 the son of Francois and Maryanna (Castonguay) Belanger.
Gerard worked as a cut off operator for Pinkham Lumber for over 20 years, Raoul Caron and Sons Farms for over 20 years and for St. John Vianney Parish taking care of the cemeteries in Wallagrass and Soldier Pond for over 20 years.
Gerard was a devoted catholic and an avid outdoors man, loved hunting, fishing, and wood working, making adirondack chairs, clothing racks and Wooden flowers. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Rose Ann Belanger of Wallagrass, three children: Elmer and wife Sherry Belanger of Cheshire, CT, Leland Belanger of Wallagrass, Laurie Ann and husband Allan Boutot of Eagle Lake; six grandchildren: Marie and husband Jeff Blier of Basking Ridge, NJ, Mark and wife Stacy Belanger of Eagle Lake, Ruth Belanger and companion Joel Saucier of Wallagrass, Melanie Belanger of Cheshire, CT, Keenan Blier of Fort Kent Marissa Blier stationed in Grafenwoehr, Germany; four step grandchildren; Jessica and husband Rene St. Onge of Wallagrass, Shawn Boutot of Eagle Lake, Colby Boutot of Tenants Harbor, ME, Chelsea and husband Travis Dionne of Wallagrass; two great-grandchildren; Drew Belanger and Charlei Bauer; five step great-grandchildren; Rennae, Kiley, Alexis, Aleah, and Connor; two sisters; Germaine Lemieux and Yvette Bourgoine both of Montreal, Canada.
In addition to his parents, Gerard was predeceased by one son Gilbert in 1994; two brothers; Paul Emile and Lorenzo Belanger; one sister Lillian Theriault.
Friends may call Friday September 29, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 8 to 9:45 a.m. at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Wallagrass. In Gerard's memory, those who wish may donate to the Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, 194 East, Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Envelopes are available at the Funeral Home.
