Bucksport - Geri passed away peacefully at Northern Light Medical Center. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl, son, Michael, brother Edward and sister Carol, her beloved dog, Muffin, special friend Rodney, and her sister-like friend Brenda. She is predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Florene Black, and two brothers, Alfred and Arnold. Geri was born on a foggy August morning at home on Cape Rosier.
Geri was a woman of many talents. She could sew a quilt, knit a hat, shoot, skin ,and butcher a deer, build a boat, bait a trap, catch and cook a lobster. She could use her green thumb to grow vegetables, flowers, trees and blackberries and pick pieces of each one and arrange a beautiful bouquet. And, on Saturday nights - she could whip up a mean 'suppa' of homemade baked beans and biscuits and a side of apple pie. She's even been a pin up as Ms. July in the lobsterwomen's calendar, 2002!
She spent her life working hard - she packed sardines in Rockland, made wreathes in Blue Hill and worked many years by her Dad's and Brother's side taking care of Hog Island, right off of Cape Rosier, lobster fishing and then caring for the Meyer Estate in Blue Hill.
Over the last several years she has spent working in Castine, as the general mail delivery lady. She made many great friends on her mail route and enjoyed taking Muffin along for the ride and a nice walk on the back shore at the end of her work day. She made a wonderful extended family in Castine of coworkers and the residence on her route, and was always grateful for a big hug every day from Jim at MMA.
She enjoyed cruising around in her classic car and her muscle car - taking home many trophy's from the car shows, and lighting up the Bucksport Christmas parade with her car covered in Christmas lights, and a beautiful wreath that she had made special for the occasion. She enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons at music, singing, dancing, and hangout out with the many friends she had there.
Please join us to celebrate her in her Celebration of Life and in lieu of flowers, please make donations in her honor to the SPCA Hancock County in Trenton Maine.

A lot of laughs and lots of tears
Have come and gone, throughout our years.
Camping, cookouts and music too.
And a lot of fun, because of you
But as long as memories live on,
You'll stay in our heart's and in a song...your friend Kimberly..

She sounded like an amazing woman. May she be at rest now and the loved ones she leaves behind find peace and solace in her memory.

Geri delivered our mail with her sidekick Muffin. She was a delight to see daily and talk to. She often went beyond her duty to insure we received our mail. We are going to miss her. Please accept our sincere condolences.
