Bangor and Stoneham, MA, Maine - George Richard "Dick" Trenholm passed away early in the morning of January 11, 2026, at Winterberry Heights Senior Living in Bangor, Maine. He was born on October 17, 1931, in Everett, MA, the second son of David Lyle and Irene (Auld) Trenholm.
At the age of 5 months, Richard moved with his family to Stoneham, MA, where he grew up, attended schools, and lived with his wife, Jane, for 57 years.
Dick enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952 during the Korean War, serving four years active duty. During this time, he met the love of his life, Jane Cousineau, from Danvers, MA. They were blessed with 70 years of marriage, and one daughter, Kathryn Jane. In 2018 Dick and Jane moved to Bangor, ME, to be closer to their daughter and her family, and made new friends at Boyd Place. At Boyd Place, he became a founding member of "The Cribbers." He was especially proud when he could beat the director of Boyd Place, Sheldon Brett.
While Dick lived in Stoneham, he was an active member of the St. James Methodist Church, American Legion Post #115; Stoneham Historical Society; St. Patrick Food Group for more than 25 years; Stoneham Senior Center, where he was "The Breadman" for many years; and a blood and platelet donor at the American Red Cross in Peabody, MA - totaling 99 blood donations and 221 platelet donations. He was a U.S. Postal Service employee in Lincoln, MA, before retirement in 1996.
Dick is survived by his faithful wife, Jane, of Bangor; devoted daughter, Kathryn and her husband, Rudolph Shorette, of Bradley, ME; beloved grandson, Daniel Shorette, his wife, Abigail, and cherished great-granddaughter, Holly, all of Westbrook, ME; his brother-in-law, William Comeau of Chardon, OH; and several nieces and nephews in OH, CT, CO, and NH. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David L. Trenholm Jr., his wife, Anne, and their daughters, Marsha Painter and Brenda Gagne, all of Nashua, NH; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Comeau of Chardon, OH.
A celebration of life will be held at Boyd Place, Bangor, ME, at some time in the future. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either the New England Wildlife Center, 500 Columbian St., S.
