Gary Ivan Harriman
Gary Ivan Harriman Obituary
Topsfield, Maine - Gary Ivan Harriman, 70, passed away on September 21, 2025, surrounded by family as the result of Primary Lateral Sclerosis. He was born at home in Topsfield, the son of Rodney Harriman and Lily (Pottle) Harriman, and left this world just a few hundred feet from where he entered it.
Gary attended grammar school in Topsfield and graduated high school at Lee Academy in 1973. He married his high school sweetheart soon after graduation. After a short stint in the Woodland mill, he spent most of his working years as a hand logger. A back injury and several subsequent surgeries ended his wood cutting career early and left him with chronic pain. Nonetheless, he continued to enjoy hunting, fishing, restoring classic cars (particularly anything Mopar) and puttering on the family homestead, albeit in small doses as his body would allow. Later in life, he found the most joy talking shop with other gear heads and spending time with his dog and his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolynn "Denise" (Dwelley) Harriman; sister, Janice Tutt and husband, Dick Tutt; brothers, Alan and Flint Harriman; brother-in-law, Grady Dwelley and his wife, Lynn Dwelley; son, Brandon and his wife, Libby, along with their two children, Eleanore and Pearl Harriman, ages 9 and 6; and daughter, Brianna Harriman and her husband, Tom Carrothers.
Being the modest man he was, Gary did not wish to have a service.
