I just learned of Gay's death and am saddened. I went to Lawrence University with her and met her freshman year when we lived on the same hall and enjoyed the connection in ensuing years. She was an east-coast wonder to this midwestern girl. Her artistic ability, her French connection (including a designer dress she got in Paris during one of our breaks!) and her sense of humor were highlights for me. I spent a couple of weeks with her in Manchester-by-the-Sea the summer of 1965, when she was having daily radiation and the family's generosity was unforgettable. I honor her life work and her abundant spirit. My heart goes out to Joe and all the family.

So sorry to hear about Gay's passing. I was a student with her in high school, and, although, I haven't seen her since, she hadn't changed much from the photos posted.

She obviously lived her life to the full, and I can imagine how much she will be missed.

I have no specific event, but I met her through the Childrens program in Ellsworth and the Childrens program in Washington County. Yes she always had a smile, and she was a voice that made me feel comfortable with her as a parent of a special needs child. But She would do what she could do during the years of Special Family Weekend. Thank you, Gay.
