G. George White

Vero Beach, FL. - G.George White, 84, passed away on February 4, 2019, in Vero Beach, Florida, after a long battle with heart disease.
G.George White was born to Basil and Dorothy White, in Addison, Maine, on September 26, 1934.
George served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963, and was stationed in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
After the service, he returned to the Bangor area, and sold cars for the Sullivan Ford dealership, building a successful career in sales. Upon the closing of Sullivan Ford Sales, George sold insurance until his retirement in 1994.
On September 4, 1970, George married Marlene Murray, of Carmel, Maine. Marlene was his companion, the mother of two of his children, and his angel. She devoted many years to his care, and was by his side until the very end, holding his hand.
A self-taught musician, George would often play the guitar and sing old country and western songs. He taught himself to play the guitar, the harmonica, and the piano. He had a beautiful voice and knew many of the old standards by heart. George also was a gifted mechanic, outdoorsman, and poet. He had a knack for figuring out how things work. He loved animals, and accepted many rescues into his home.
George was an honorable man with a steel handshake and a soft heart. He will be deeply missed.
George White is survived by his wife, Marlene, of 49 years; his children, Joseph White of Key West, Florida, and Jenny W. Coleman and her husband, Loren Coleman, of Portland, Maine; as well as extended family members in central Maine. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his brothers Marvin and Arden, and his sister Elaine Norris. He was also preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Alicia Harriman.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to H.A.L.O. Animal Rescue of Sebastian, Florida.

I have had the grace of forgiveness stowed upon me by cousin Jenn and was allowed to share in the passing of Uncle George by her postings. Family dynamics sometimes make for separation. My thoughts and prayers go to my cousins, and my Aunt. I feel their sadness, not only because of Uncle George's passing, but also because he was the last of his family unit as in my grandmother, other Uncles and my Mom. I do have so many memories of all of my Uncles and Grandmother, the innocence of youth and fun. Family is complicated but so important. Peace and prayers to you all-- from me and Dad.

Dad is still here. All the anger, the pain, the illness, the sadness...gone. Only the kindness, the intelligence, the laughter, the love of books and beautiful music...his love for his family...only love remains.
Only love.

As a child, I remember George coming down to my parents'
home, Harry and Ida Rancourt in Winterport for them to try out a new car. My Dad and Mom went to see George any time they needed a new car.
My dad, Harry passed away about ten years now and Ida
is in a nursing home in Bangor.
I'll make sure she knows of George's passing.
George will be greatly missed by all who knew him and
loved him.
With our deepest sympathy,
Ida Rancourt and Daughters
