Frederick Ray Gillis Sr. Obituary

Danforth, Maine - Frederick Ray Gillis Sr. was born September 1, 1949, and went to be with our Lord on May 18, 2026.

He was predeceased by his father, Fred Gillis; mother, Elizabeth Gillis Golding; and sister, Paula Gillis. He survived by his wife and soulmate of 54 years, Joy Gillis; his brother and best friend, Barry Gillis; his beloved children, Frederick Gillis Jr., Anthony Gillis and wife, Elizabeth, and Lydia Gillis; nephews, Kurt Kukowski, Tim Gosselin, Isaiah Gillis and Lucas Gillis; and his niece, Mesha Wright and husband, James; and his precious grandchildren, Mary, Alex, Reid, Grace, Ryker, Isabelle and Isaac.

He was a member of Danforth Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, Shriners and Houlton Elks. He liked to follow NASCAR and the Patriots, and avidly watched and went to many Red Sox games with Pat and Peter. Summers he spent at camp and in winter with the gang in Florida. From a young age, he worked at the lumber mill with his father and his uncle, Frank; and later took over the business. After that, he owned and operated Gillis Fuel, LLC until he retired.

A service will be held 11 a.m. June 6 at Danforth Baptist Church, Maple Street, with a gathering downstairs after. In lieu of flowers, he wished to have donations sent to Danforth Baptist Church, P.O. Box 88, Danforth, ME 04424.

He will be greatly missed, until we meet again.
