Frank A. Thayer
Hermon -
Frank A. Thayer, 69, of Hermon, began his spiritual journey on September 3, 2019, with his loving wife of 47 years holding his hand.
He was born in 1950 in the town of Hermon, the son of Ann and Kenneth Thayer.
Frank served his country in the U.S. Navy silent service aboard the USS Volador and USS Skipjack, where he met three life-time shipmates, who always stayed in touch with each other: Thom Peck, West Virginia, Bill Henry, Iowa; and Dwayne Jones, Louisiana.
He was a carpenter and sign maker in Florida and Maine. In Florida, he had many opportunities to do sport fishing, which he loved. He also loved playing guitar and golf.
His friends will remember him for his sense of humor even in failing health.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Carrie Ann; and his entire immediate family: parents, Ann and Ken; and siblings, Fred, Melinda and Marlene. He is survived by his wife, Debra; and very special cousins, Greg Thayer and David Hanscom; and dearest friends, Carl and Janet Weed.
Frank requested to be returned to the sea with a private service.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
Tree Planting Timeline
Orders placed in:
