Madawaska, Maine - Felix Lavoie, age 96, died peacefully on June 3, 2026, at Ridgewood Estates in Madawaska. He was born in Madawaska on June 23, 1929, the son of Eloi and Laura (Martin) Lavoie.

He married his loving wife, Doreen, on June 4, 1951. For 75 years, they walked through life side by side, sharing a marriage filled with love, faith, family, and countless treasured memories.

Felix was a federal-state potato/produce inspector for more than 35 years, covering the east coast from Maine to North Carolina. After retirement, he enjoyed working part-time for different farmers in the St. John Valley, roguing foundation seed in the summer months for Berce Farms and also working for L&L Paradis in the winter months.

Felix especially enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons and grandchildren, and spending time at camp in Allagash, often joined by his wife, Doreen. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was hunting and fishing, clearing trails in the woods, gardening, and creating beautiful flower landscapes. He was also an avid snowshoeing enthusiast, and it was quite common to meet up with Felix on the Farm Brook Trails on any given winter day, well into his early 90s.

He was a past member and chairman of the board of appeals for the Town of Madawaska, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2638 since 1960, and member of the 4th Degree Assembly, past Faithful Navigator, past Color Core Commander, and past Pilot and Trustee for many years. He was a lifelong dedicated volunteer for the St. Thomas Aquinas Church in various capacities. As a Eucharistic Minister, he delivered the sacrament to the sick and elderly home bound. He served on the Parish Council, the Family Life Commission, and the Social Justice and Peace Commission, as well as taking an active role in various church projects and fundraisers. He was very active in the Cursillo movement in northern Maine as a leader on many weekends and also belonged to the St. Thomas Aquinas Church Faith Sharing Cell Groups.

Felix leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and treasured memories that will continue to live on in the hearts that he touched. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Doreen (Long) Lavoie of Madawaska; two daughters, Raymonde Desjardins and her husband, Yvan, of St. Basile, NB, Denyse Michaud and her husband, Alan, of St. Agatha; two sons, Donald Lavoie and his wife, Diane, of Madawaska, George and his wife, Deb, of Frenchville; nine grandchildren, Michelle Desjardins, Dany Desjardins, Dominic Lavoie, Danielle Ruby, Sam Lavoie, Jake Lavoie, Kate Lavoie, Justin Michaud, and Alex Michaud; six great-grandchildren, Sophie, Lucas, Thomas, Aya, Phoebe, Eloise, and Adeline. In addition to his parents, Felix was predeceased by his siblings, Robert and Martin Lavoie, Cecile Raymond, Aurore D'Amour, Lorraine Picard, and Louise Ruest.

Felix's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the compassionate and loving care he received from the Ridgewood staff and family during his last few years. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Relatives and friends may offer their condolences at the church from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Burial will take place immediately following the Mass at the parish cemetery.
