Belfast, Maine - Evelyn Ruth Baird, born on October 28, 1933, in Camden, Maine, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, with her beloved husband holding her hand. She was 90 years old.

Evelyn was the cherished daughter of Herbert and Mary Lunt. She married her high school sweetheart, Wilbur Edgar Baird Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful and fulfilling life. Together, they were blessed with four children, Christine Baird, Wilbur Baird Jr., Sandra Rideout, and Wayne Baird. Evelyn and Wilbur spent 17 years raising their family in Connecticut, before eventually returning to Maine. They later owned and managed the Broadway Dairy Queen in Bangor, Maine, for many years, where they made countless memories with family and the community.

A proud mother, aunt, Grammy, and great-grandmother, Evelyn's greatest joy was her family, which included nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as multiple nieces and nephews. She had a deep love for the ocean, which led her to live in several picturesque coastal towns, including Deer Isle, Camden, and Belfast. Her love for the sea was only matched by her love for bringing people together, often with lively card games and a candy jar that was always full. Evelyn was the heart of every gathering, known for her delicious cooking, sweet treats, and the warmth she shared with everyone. She spent countless hours in her sewing room, where she brought her creative visions to life, crafting numerous creations that her family and friends treasured.

Evelyn and her husband also enjoyed being "snowbirds," spending many winters in Florida, where they created wonderful memories and formed lasting friendships. She had an impeccable sense of style and was always "dressed to impress," with earrings to match every outfit. Her outgoing and generous nature won her countless friends, all of whom adored her vibrant spirit.

Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband, Wilbur; her daughters, Christine and Sandra; her twin sister, Elli; and her sister, Hazel. She was predeceased by her sons, Wilbur Jr. and Wayne; her granddaughter, Tarsha; her grandson, Wilbur III; and her brother, Arthur.

Evelyn's warmth, kindness, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched. A service to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held at later place and time.
