Lee, Maine - Esther M. Jones, 96, died peacefully January 3, 2022, at her home with her family and her dog, Baby, by her side. Born in Old Town on March 3, 1925, the daughter of Arthur and Florence Mishou.
She attended Old Town schools. Esther was a flag bearer for the VFW, and in 2005, she received the Real Heroes Award for saving a life.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Jones; a grandson, Steven Kozenieski; three brothers, Melvin, Elwin, and Herbert; and one sister, Phyllis. Esther is survived by one daughter, Dianne (Harvey) Kozenieski of FL; three sons, Harold Day and wife, Sally, of Bangor, Phillip Robertson and wife, Carole, of Lee, and John Robertson and wife, Bonnie, of Orrington; stepson, Brad Jones and wife, Heather, of Massachusetts; stepdaughter, Anna Jones of Bangor; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The family of Esther wishes to thank CHCS and hospice for the wonderful care from their staff.
A graveside service will be held at Lawndale Cemetery, Stillwater Ave, Old Town in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Penobscot Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 73 Lincoln, Maine 04457. Condolences to the family may be expressed at Brookingssmith.com.
