Elsie Dorine Belanger Obituary

Dexter, Maine - Elsie Dorine Belanger, 88, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 12, 2026, at Pleasant Meadows Assisted Living in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born on March 23, 1937, the daughter of Samuel and Esther (Downs) Rockwell.

Elsie married the love of her life, Herman Belanger, on November 24, 1956. She worked for many years at Dexter Shoe and was known for her strong work ethic and caring nature. Elsie will be remembered for her best-ever Sunday dinners, her homemade Christmas treats, and most of all, her deep love for her family. She cherished her babies, always greeted the day with a smile, and left a lasting warmth with everyone she met.

She is survived by her daughters, Lorraine Wintle and her husband, Stephen, of Dexter, Darlene Scott and her husband, Reggie, of Orono, and Carmlita Chini and her husband, Jerry, of Bracey, Virginia; her sons, Jeffrey Belanger and his wife, Susan, of Dexter, and Sheldon Belanger of St. Marys, Georgia; her brother, Edgar Rockwell; her sisters, Maxine Fernald, Lilian Sands, and Roberta Glover; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Belanger; her son, Scott Belanger; and her brother, Ronald Rockwell.

A private funeral service for the family will be held in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport, where condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the website at crosbyneal.com.
