Dr. James H Edwards
Cary, NC. - Dr. James H. Edwards formerly of Millinocket, Maine and Port Alberni, BC, Canada passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019.
Born March 27, 1936 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan, Canada, he was the son of the late Arthur Edwards and Nora Turnbull.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marjorie Edwards; Three son's Jim Edwards and wife Tamara of San Tan Valley, AZ, Bill Edwards and wife Michele of Vinton, VA and Ron Edwards and wife Stacie of Cary, NC; Six grandchildren Abigail 21, Ethan 21, Isaac 18, Emilie 18, Benjamin 14 and Logan 10.
He spent some of his most enjoyable and memorable years working at the Millinocket Regional Hospital as a General Surgeon. He truly cherished that time and the people he worked with. I, as his son, would come home and ask how he was doing. If it was a good day, he would say not bad. If it was a bad day, he would be looking at his medical books and saying I could have done more. He valued each and every life.
Upon retirement Jim and Marge moved to Port Alberni, BC, Canada and lived out their lifelong dream of building a home in the Alberni Inlet. They spent many wonderful summers at "the cabin" with their friends, children and grandchildren.
One of Jim's greatest treasures was his grandchildren. When they were little, he would get up early to make them waffles with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. As young adults, he would call them weekly to check in and make sure they were all doing well. He was a wonderful Grandpa, who enjoyed every soccer game, band concert and swim meet.
Jim will be forever loved and remembered by his family, friends and the many patients he took care of over the years. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is at peace.
A small ceremony will be held in Canada for the family this Summer.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, Jim's family would appreciate donations made to the Dr. James H. Edwards Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund will support future Stearns High School graduates. Please send to Stearns High School, 199 State Street, Millinocket, ME 04462.

Marge, sorry to read if Jim’s death. We had some good times during your Millinocket days. I fondly recall a New Years Eve gathering at our house. Jim was fascinated by a computer game on one of the old original TRS 80 machines. So glad you have three fine sons and grandchildren to help you adjust to being a widow.

It was with great sadness that we read of Dr Edwards passing. I had the great honor of being employed at MRH when this very talented surgeon performed his duties and often miracles. His skill in the emergency room I witnessed first hand.
The community of Millinocket was blessed to have him, his lovely wife and children as part of our home. Our most sincere sympathies on your loss. You will be in our thoughts and prayers

My dearest Marge and family,
I am so very, very sad to read of Jim's passing. That man meant the world to me, both as my friend, and my physician. He saved my life. He listened to me, and he trusted my judgment as a patient who knew herself. He was compassionate, caring, intelligent, and always found the time. He will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
