Dr. Henry Randolph Bourgon

Dr. Henry Randolph Bourgon

Bucksport - Dr. Henry R. Bourgon passed away on his birthday, June 27, 2025, at the age of 94. He was born on June 27, 1931, to Astrid Mattson Bourgon and Nelson Bourgon.
He grew up and graduated high school in Bucksport. While attending Colby College, he met his love, Nancy Van den Kerckhoven. They were married at Christmas time in 1953, and moved to Philadelphia for Henry to enter dental school at Temple University. A fledgling young couple in a big city, Nancy was a teller at a bank; Henry worked at a gas station and a beer bottling company to make ends meet, while keeping up on his studies. Henry was drafted into the army but was allowed to graduate from dental school before moving to Fort Meade, MD, where he was a captain as an army dentist. Once completing his stint with the army, Henry, Nancy, and now two boys, John and Michael, moved back to Bucksport to start his dental practice in town. Not too long after, their daughter, Sandra, was born.
Henry was well known in Bucksport, not only as the local dentist, but as an active participant in the Boy Scouts, the Congregational Church, and town council. He even served as mayor. He spent 30 plus years caring for his hundreds, if not thousands of patients. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who loved to attend all sporting and school events to support and cheer on his family.
He was a passionate bird hunter and raised 4 Brittany Spaniels over several decades. He also loved canoeing and spent many years running the Allagash River with Nancy, friends, and family. He really enjoyed helping build his retirement home with a little help from his friend, Charlie.
Henry is survived by his children, John Bourgon and wife, Cathy, Michael Bourgon and wife, Debbie, and Sandra Goldsbury and husband, John; grandchildren, Adam Bourgon and wife, Jennifer Enman, Erica Bourgon and husband, Mike Barber, April Moore and husband, Jamie, Kelly Bourgon and husband, Michael Bagley, Alex Bourgon and partner, Hollie Pryor, Ryan Goldsbury and wife, Deb Chen, and Michael Goldsbury and wife, Talina; great-grandchildren, Michael and Emma Chavaree, Luke Barber, Aaliyah Tenney, Bennett and Mattson Bourgon, and Miles and Raymond Goldsbury; and Henry's brother, Ernest Bourgon and wife, Florence.
A celebration of life will be held later in the summer by the family.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Tree Planting Timeline
