North Haven, Maine - Douglas Arthur Record, 63, of North Haven, Maine passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018, at Sussman House, Rockport, after losing a short battle with lung cancer. He was born in Lewiston on April 4, 1955, the son of Edwin Herbert and Leatrice June Millett Record.

He graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1973. He served in the US Navy, as Quartermaster stationed at Argentia Naval Base, Newfoundland, honorably discharged in 1977. He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with an Associate of Science degree in Forest Management Technology in 1981. He became a licensed Forester and worked for

Wagner Forest Management and Diamond International. Many were lucky to receive Doug's forestry guidance in sustainable land use management on properties throughout Maine.

In 2000, Doug married his longtime partner, Julie Catherine Newman, in Belfast, Maine, on October 24, they inspired each other for 31 years. He was passionate about genealogy, an avid outdoorsman, spending time at his cottage in Prince Edward Island and serving his community. Doug loved ice hockey, playing in men's leagues, coaching youth hockey and traveling with his Jackman buddies to the Frozen Four. He followed the Iditarod, NASCAR, bull riding, and horse racing. He shared his love for horse racing with his grandson, Odin. He made lifelong friends in PEI, enjoyed walking the red sandy beaches, exploring the island, and sitting around the campfire sharing stories. He served on the North Haven Planning Board, North Haven Grange Master, Southern Harbor Eldercare, North Haven Historical Society.

He is survived by his friend and wife, Julie of North Haven; his father, Edwin; his brother, Bradley A. Record and "sister-in-law" Wendy Jensen; his stepdaughter, Catherine E. Corson and husband, Kenneth, Jr.; grandson, Odin Sawyer Corson; and his host son, Jack Walker; nephew, Shane Record and wife, Artemis and their son, Ben; niece, Jenny Record Grover and husband, Casey Grover and their children, Jackson Fitts, Casey Grover Jr., Kamryn Grover and Della Grover; niece, Linsey Record and wife Alison Record and their children, Deven and

Dakota Rogers; in-laws, Jack and Shirley Newman; as well as many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Leatrice June Record. He was well loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1 at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 17 E. Main St., South Paris.
