Dorothy E. (Walker) Gorden Obituary

Bangor, Maine - Dorothy E. (Walker) Gorden, 91, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. She was born July 4, 1934, in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of the late Maurice and Helen (Washburn) Walker.

She will be deeply missed by her family. Dorothy attended Glad Tidings Church of Bangor.

She is survived by her beloved son, Wayne Lavoie and wife, Paula, of Cape Coral, Florida; beloved daughter, Brenda Atkinson and husband, Wendell, of Warren, Maine; beloved brother, Richard Walker and wife, Joyce, of Bangor, Maine; and grandchildren, Jennifer Thayer, Joseph Webb, Andrew Lavoie, Jodi Black, and Sarah Leonhardi. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her loving parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Maynard Gorden; brother, Robert Walker; and sisters, Betty Seaman and Jean Sample.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with Pastor Jason Bailey officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 2pm until the time of service. The family invites all to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., immediately following the service.
