CORINNA and NEWPORT - Dorothy "Dot" Burleigh, 94, passed away peacefully July 6, 2019 at a Portland hospital. She was born November 13, 1924 in Belfast, a daughter of Albert and Alice (Boardman) Kenney. Dot attended Crosby High School in Belfast and worked for Truitt Brothers and Daley Brothers of Belfast. At this time she met and married the love of her life Lawrence and they were married March 15, 1942. They had a long happy life together for 76 years, until his passing in 2018. They moved to Newport where she worked for Banton Brothers. Lawrence and Dorothy were always together and resided for many years at Sunshine Village in Corinna where they were well known and loved. They were even on the local news a few times for Lawrence's 100 plus years of birthdays and their 70 plus years of marriage. Most of Dorothy's life was spent being a devoted wife and mother.
Lawrence and Dorothy had 3 children, Diane, Lawrence, Jr. and Edwin. She loved spending time with family and friends. She and Lawrence never missed a family and friends get together. Some of their most cherished times were spent at the Corinna American Legion. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hibbard Nursing Home for their great care of Dorothy during her stay there. We know she is resting peacefully with her husband and daughter. She will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
She is survived by 2 sons, Lawrence, Jr. of Hebron, CT, and Edwin of Corinna; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence, daughter Diane, and brother David.
A graveside service will be held 1 P.M. Wednesday, July 24th, at the Morse's Corner Cemetery, Corinna. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com

I first met Lawrence and Dorothy while working at Wal-Mart pharmacy in Palmyra many years ago. I loved Lawrence's sense of humor! They both were very cheerful and devoted to one another for sure. Two of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure to know.....I am glad they were blessed to have so many years together. They will be deeply missed by their family, friends, and neighbors. Loved by everyone! Rest in peace you two lovely people.....
