Doris Arlene (Chase) Currier Obituary

Lincoln, Maine - Doris Arlene (Chase) Currier, 92, wife of the late Lawrence Currier, passed away peacefully, and with grace on October 1, 2025, at her daughter's home in Hampden, Maine, with family by her side. She was born May 24, 1933, in Fredericton, NB, Canada, the daughter of Isaac J. and Grace V. (McKeen) Chase.

Doris and her family moved to Maine in 1936. She graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1950, as salutatorian, at the age of 17. Upon graduation, she began her banking career at Lincoln Bank and Trust. Doris married Lawrence Currier in 1952 and lived a full life. She combined meaningful part time positions at Bradstreet Ford Sales and Fleet Bank, with raising a family. Doris retired as branch manager of Fleet Bank in 1987, and monthly Bankers Luncheons continued at local Lincoln restaurants until recent years. After retiring, Doris combined travel with her new job of caring for her beloved grandchildren when needed. Throughout her life, Doris enjoyed being a Cub Scout den mother, golfing, bowling, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, camping, and traveling to many states and Canada. She and Lawrence especially enjoyed tours with their lifelong friends and being constant care takers of the family camp on the Big Narrows. Doris was also fortunate to spend 62 years living on Highland Avenue and was appreciative of the many relationships formed there. Her wisdom and thoughtful, kind ways were recognized and appreciated by everyone she met.

Doris is survived by a son, Greg Currier and his wife, Marianne; granddaughters, Christine and Katie; great-grandchildren, Colton, Farrah, Brinlee, Lily, Lucy, and Brantley; a daughter, Elaine Blake and her husband, Gary; grandchildren, Ashley and her husband, Alex, and Ryan; and great-granddaughters, Elliot Doris, her namesake, and Avery. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Lorraine Chase; and several nieces and nephews, many of whom checked in often and were able to join her in celebrating at her 90th birthday. In addition to her parents and her husband, Doris was predeceased by five brothers, Harold, Irvine, Donald, Vernon, and her twin, David; and four sisters, Wanna, Madeline, Thelma, and Nancy.

Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery on her birthday, next spring, May 24, 2026.
