Steuben, Maine - Donna Jean (McLain) Sawyer of Steuben and Skowhegan, passed away peacefully, on June 17, 2025, at her childhood home after her battle with cancer. Donna was born and raised in Steuben.

She worked as a nurse through Northern Lights in both the Downeast and Waterville areas for more than 25 years, and as a CNA for 20 years prior. She truly loved being a nurse and touched the lives of many people throughout her career as a caregiver. She loved knitting and spending time with her family and friends.

She was predeceased by both her parents, Delceina and Stanley McLain; her brother, Shane McLain; and her sister, Belinda McLain. She is now watching over her brother, Stanley McLain Jr.; along with her sister, Brenda Atwater, who was an amazing support and rock during this hard time for Donna and the family. She is also watching over her children, Brenda Catheron and fiancé, Chris Tooley, and Gregory Ingalls Jr. and wife, Renee Ingalls; her 6 grandchildren, Belinda and Isabell Catheron, Emma and Gregory Ingalls III, Hunter Tooley and Kiya Quigley; along with numerous nieces and nephews. For the past several years she has lived with her beloved companion, Harold Bigelow, growing a close bond with his family and their friends.

Services will be held at Unionville Church of God on Sunday, June 29, at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to the American Cancer Society in memory of Donna.
