Newport, Maine - Diane J. Hanson, 55, died peacefully on April 12, 2022, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She fought to the very end.

Diane was born on April 13, 1966, in Dexter, Maine, the daughter of Eugene and Charlotte (Norsworthy) Hutchinson. She graduated from Dexter High School with the class of 1984. She worked for several years as a dental assistant for Port and Solomon of Bangor.

Diane was the anchor and the glue to her family. She was a strong, tough fighter. She absolutely loved to shop, take motorcycle rides, and go ATVing with her husband, Steve. She was a loving wife, mother, and MEME. She was a long time member of Charleston Church.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Steven Hanson of Newport; her three children: Zachary Hanson and wife, Jo, of Denver, CO, Hillary Bradstreet and husband, Seth, of Newport, and Hannah McGovern and husband, Darren, of Newport; six grandchildren that she adored: Abbigail, Brady, Nora, Nason, Charlotte, and Cora; her mother, Charlotte Hutchinson of Polk City, FL; sisters: Donna Reny and husband, Tony, of Greene, and Debbie Snow of San Francisco, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her dad, Eugene Hutchinson; and brother, David Leo.

Diane will be deeply missed by her family, particularly her grandchildren who lit up her world.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2022, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Charleston Church, 185 Main Road, Charleston, with Pastor Matt Ward officiating. Refreshments will follow. A committal will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Newport, following the gathering.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Sarah's House, 346 Main Road, Holden, Maine, 04429. Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.
