Blaine, Maine - Delmar "Chappy'' Clark, age 78, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 6, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Chappy was born on February 22, 1943, in Fort Fairfield, ME to Leslie and Alda Clark, number 13 of 15 children. Chappy graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1962, where his athletic ability secured him a place in the Fort Fairfield Athletic Hall of Fame, and earned him a scholarship to play basketball at Husson University. He went on to score 1000 points and earn his way into the Husson Hall of Fame for basketball and soccer.

While at Husson, Chappy met the love of his life, Brenda Bubar. After three years at Husson University, Chappy joined the U.S. Army and served two and a half years in Germany with his wife. Upon their return, Chappy finished his degree in business administration at Husson University and settled in Blaine, where he and Brenda raised their two daughters, Heather and Melanie.

Chappy was well known for his different roles in the community throughout his life. He held an active role in the local recreation departments, sharing his love of basketball with generations of upcoming athletes including his six grandchildren. As well as being actively involved in recreation, he was the Town Manager of Blaine from 1990-2017. During those years he was well known for his practical jokes and entertaining personality. Chappy had a way of making everyone smile, touching every single person throughout his life in one way or another. The dedication and inspiration that he brought to his community was like that of no other.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda (Bubar) Clark; daughter, Heather Bradbury and son-in-law, Bart Bradbury; daughter Melanie Wilson and son-in-law, Brent Wilson; sisters, Allison Oakes, Sarah Stevens, Clarice Kapraun, and Sandra (Jon) Durepo; brother, Vaughn (Lynn) Clark; and grandchildren, Whitnie, Clark, Breann and Brayden Bradbury of Bridgewater, and Roger and Philip Wilson of Georgia. Chappy was predeceased by his parents; his in-laws, Philip and Yvonne Bubar; brothers, Earl, Philip, Raymond, Reginald, Wendell, Clifton, Clayton, Galen; and sister, Jean.

There will be no visitation. A celebration of life with military honors will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the Bridgewater Free Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mitch Ross officiating. The family welcomes relatives and friends to a time of refreshment and remembrance at the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
