Dean Fitzgerald, 89, passed away on March 5, 2025, in Bangor, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 8, 1935, in Merrill, Maine, the son of Myles and Jessie (Curren) Fitzgerald.
He served three years in the U.S. Army and retired from the B & A Railroad as an engineer. He enjoyed boating, cooking, reading, music, tv, and being at camp on Pleasant Lake in the summers. Spending time with his family was what he loved. He always had kind words towards others and lived life with a positive outlook.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jane (Dow) Fitzgerald of Millinocket; two children, David (Pestiva) Fitzgerald of Bangor, and Lynn (Steve) Gamage of Saco; three grandchildren, Kelsey, Myles, and Faith; one sister, Faye (Tom) Austin of Bridgeton; his railroad family; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; and six siblings, Marie, Jeannie, Maybelle, Morris "Skipper," Helen, and Bill.
Friends and relatives may call on Friday, March 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Martin's of Tours Catholic Church in Millinocket, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. There will be a gathering after the service.
