Waterville - David A. Hartley, 49, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018, at his home in Waterville, surrounded by family and friends.
David was born on July 17, 1968, in Waterville, Maine, the son of Elvin M. and Carol G. Hartley. He attended schools in Clinton and Fairfield and graduated from the University of Maine Orono in August of 2003, with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was employed at the University of Maine from 1987-2003, Chili's in Bangor from 2003-2007, and at Colby College with Sodexo from 2007-2015. David will always be remembered for his love of children. He was always the biggest kid of all!
He is survived by his partner, Alan Smith Jr. of Waterville; three adopted daughters, Morgan, Taylor, and Quinn Smith; a son, Darren Hartley of Waterville; his mother, Carol Hartley of Winslow; five siblings, Robert Hartley and wife, Heather, of Clinton, Vincent Hartley and wife, Dany, of Houston, Texas, Ona Orffer and husband, Norman, of Olympia, Washington, Terry Hartley of Winslow, and Caleb Hartley of Clinton; and a large extended family, including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Elvin M. Hartley Jr; and his father, Elvin M. Hartley.
Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A funeral service honoring the life of David will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 30, at the funeral home with Victor Hartley officiating. Friends and family are asked to join the family at the Elks Lodge, Middle Street, in Pittsfield, for a time of food and socializing immediately following the service.
