Daniel Bassett Priestley
He was born September 28, 1934 to Frederick Brooke and Catharine Emilene (Bassett) Priestley in Philadelphia, PA.
Dan graduated from Lower Moreland High School in Huntingdon Valley, PA in 1952 and from Rider College in Trenton, NJ in 1958. He married Elaine C. Propert on September 7, 1957 and they subsequently made their home in the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maine and New Hampshire. He is survived by his wife, Elaine C. Priestley, son David B. and his wife Katheryne T. Priestley, daughter, Carole J. and her husband Donald G. Perryman, daughter-in-law Jocelynn L. Priestley and their families. He was predeceased by one son, Daniel F. Priestley.
After serving in the armed forces and completing college, Dan began his professional career in finance with the Wellington Fund, followed by the Delfi Corporation where he became President of the Delfi Service Corporation. He also served as President of the American Guaranty & Trust Company. In 1973 he moved to Maine to become Vice-President and Senior Trust Officer of Northeast Bank & Trust Company. In 1981 he moved to United Bank, becoming Senior Trust Officer and President. He retired from United Bank in 1989 and served as a consultant for Union Trust Company for a period of time.
Dan was active in many business and civic groups. He loved music and was an accomplished flutist and piccolo player. He played in many bands and musical groups. He had a fine voice and sang in many choirs and vocal groups over the years.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Rd., Exeter, NH 03833, Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. A reception for all residents and friends attending will be held following the service at The Boulders of RiverWoods, 5 Timber Lane, Exeter, NH 03833. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at a later date.
