Cumberland Center, Maine - Constance Lincoln Sweetser died peacefully at age 93, at home in her sleep, on July 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Connie was born to Edward and Grace Lincoln on Craigie Street, Portland, Maine, on September 7, 1930.

Connie was educated at Waynflete and Deering High School in Portland, Maine. Mum went on to the University of Maine at Orono, where she met the love of her life, Dick Sweetser. After Dick's graduation, Mum received her MRS. They were married June 30, 1951, and soon after moved into their new home at 19 Blanchard Road on the Sweetser Farm in Cumberland Center.

Connie was a pillar in the community. She was very proud of her involvement with the Greely pool, teaching so many young people the important skills of swimming.

Mum instilled the lifelong love of skiing in her husband, children and countless others. She was involved for many years with Ski Patrol and Ski School during their years spent at Mt. Abrams in Locke Mills.

She and Dad loved to travel, and Dad would follow her anywhere. They saw everything they wanted to see and skied everywhere they wanted to ski.

One of Mum's outstanding accomplishments was the market at Sweetser's Apple Barrel. She single-handedly ran the market for many years. As the market grew, she hired and trained workers. She led by example. She was very proud of all of The Apple Barrel employees and considered them part of her family. Connie was very proud of the contributions that the orchard and market were able to provide to the community of Cumberland, training many young people over the years in people skills and work habits.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard W. Sweetser Sr.; and her most dear daughter-in-law, Debby Freeman. Connie "Mum," "Bebe," "GG," never stopped saying how proud she was of her children and her grandchildren. She is survived by Rick Sweetser and his wife, Linda Sweetser, Greg Sweetser, Cathy Sweetser and her husband, Mum's favorite son-in-law, Jock Moore; and her grandsons, Sam Sweetser and his wife, Erin Sweetser, and Eben Sweetser and his wife, Kate Tilas. She is also survived by her stepgranddaughters, Carrie Shamos and her husband, Vinny Pasquali, Stephanie Riley and her daughter Ava, and Dan Pelletier. She was especially smitten with her great-grandchildren, Henry and Amelia Sweetser, and Teddy Sweetser. She was always grateful for all of her very dear nieces and nephews and their families. She had many friends throughout her life that brought her much joy. With all her heart she loved her extended Freeman family. We also want to remember her very beloved half sisters and their families, Leonora Lincoln Estes and Elizabeth Scott Lincoln.

For Connie's friends and family there will be a time of visitation with the family on Friday, July 26, from 3-6 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Cumberland, Cumberland Center, Maine. On Saturday, July 27, at 2 p.m. we will have a memorial service and celebration of Connie's life at Sweetser's Apple Barrel, 15 Blanchard Road, Cumberland Center, Maine. The private interment at Moss Side Cemetery will be held at a later date.
