Brunswick, Maine - CMSGT Alfred Santos Jr. passed away on August 16, 2024. Born in Hondo, Texas, to father, Alfred Santos and mother, Consuelo Lopez Santos.

Al joined the Air Force when he was 19, going to radar school in Colorado, then was sent to Presque Isle, Maine, for three years. After the Air force, he held various jobs and then joined the Maine ANG in Bangor. He flew in the back seat of the 101 Voodoo as a navigator. He then joined civil engineering. He was chosen to go to Colorado as a liaison out of Washington, where he spent four years. He came back to Maine and eventually made Chief Master Sargent, where he spent the rest of his career. He retired in 1992 with an Honorable Discharge. He and his wife Jackie, bought a home in Rockledge, FL, where they spent their winters. They had fifteen wonderful years there. They sold their home in Hermon, and moved to Brunswick, Maine.

Alfred is survived by his five children, Michelle Santos of New Mexico, Mark Santos of Orono, Maria Santos of Old Town, Lucinda Santos of Las Vegas, and Susan Thompson of Colorado; and one stepdaughter, Theresa Byers of South Carolina. He has 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Antonio; sister-in-law, Cybol; his sisters, Susie, and Alvira; and a stepson, Richie Sprague.

Al loved life to the fullest and enjoyed telling everyone about his military years. He will be greatly missed. There will be a Military funeral at Maine Veteran's Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta, on Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Memories and condolences may be shared at brackettfh.com.
